Episode notes

In this interview, Javier Ramello looks back with Herobeat Studios on the development and launch of Endling: Extinction is Forever, alongside composer Manel Gil-Inglada. They discuss the project’s evolution, from a personal idea about social impact and animal extinction to a studio production supported by Handy Games and technically assisted by T2T Tech.

The conversation explores the game’s musical identity: an organic soundtrack based on real instruments, leitmotifs and close collaboration with the development team. They also explain how Endling delivers its environmental message without words, from the limited and realistic perspective of a vixen trying to survive and protect her cubs.

The interview covers exploration design, environmental storytelling, art direction and the challenges of releasing on multiple platforms, particularly adaptation and quality assurance. The participants also review the game’s initial reception, its approximate length, the details behind community theories, additional soundtrack content and the availability of demos and versions for PC, consoles and Steam Deck. Finally, they discuss possible future stories set in the Endling universe and new projects from the studio and composer.
